Instruement As Cultural Artifact
This project, loosely inspired by (or modeled on) the illustrations of Bryan Lee O’Malley, was an accompaniement to an essay on the ecology of everyday objects.
The essay revolved around electric guitars, their place in the cultural, sonic, and sub-cultural history of music. It explored what they represent iconographically - the music and musician we associate with a certain silouetette - and interpersonally.
The accompaniny visuals gave homage to the cult-classic comic “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World”, as it seemed fitting given that - amongst musicians - certain guitars invoke their own cult followings.
